Hi Bobcats! We are excited to launch our 2024/2025 school year fundraiser! In honor of Read Across America Week (3/3-3/7) we will be having a Read-a-Thon!!
We need you!! Help us raise our goal of $60,000 to support all the amazing things Cougar Ridge has to offer! So much of what happens at our school is not possible without the generous support of our families and our PTSA. This is our one and only major fundraiser of the year!
Here is what we need from YOU!
1. Collect Pledges & Donations
Wednesday, February 26th to Friday, March 7th
Call, email or ask family and friends to make a pledge to our Read-a-Thon
Asked donation per student is $150
2. READ, READ, and READ Some More!
Sunday March 2nd to Friday March 7th - Read, read, read!
At least 20 mins a day for our 6 days of Read Across America Week (that’s 120 minutes minimum)
Track your minutes on your Reading Log Bookmark
3. Family Literacy Night!
Come to the Cougar Ridge Family Reading Night on Thursday March 6th from 6-7:30pm
Play reading games, write a family story, arts and crafts, prizes and treats!
How to get pledges:
• We ask each student to raise at least $150 in pledges and donations.
• Log into 99Pledges Here, to access your student's page
• Send messages to family and friends through the website to collect pledges and donations.
• Pledges can be made multiple ways!
Per minute read (example $1/min for 20min/day is $120 pledge donation!)
Or: grandma will donate $75 if you read for your 120 mins this week
Or: grandma loves you and is giving PTSA $75!
**If you plan to read more than 120 minutes (AMAZING!!) but please tell your donors that! We do not want to surprise them!
• At the end of the week, update your minutes read on your 99pledge page to tell your donors!
Corporate Matching:
Cougar Ridge PTSA is a match eligible non profit organization. Please be sure to submit your donation to your employer to help double your donation to CR PTSA! To learn more about matching, click here.
PRIZES!!!
Every student who participates will get a voucher for a FREE book from Walls of Books (used book up to $8 in value)
Daily raffles for ice cream for anyone who has sent donation requests
Top 2 classes donations $ raised (prorated per student) win a pizza party
Student with most donations wins $25 gift card to Island Books
Reading prizes:
Daily Prizes and tracking at school for most minutes read per class!
Top 2 classes with most minutes read (prorated per student) 3/2-3/7 win a popsicle party!
Top 2 students win $10 gift card to Walls of Books
Why does PTSA need to raise funds? Do you know what is funded by your PTSA dollars? Cougar Ridge PTSA's budget is nearly $150,000. Each year PTSA funds more than meets the eye. Below is a breakdown of many areas we touch.
A breakdown:
Events: $14,000
Spooky Spaghetti, Lunar New Year, Heritage Festival, BINGO, Field Day, Carnival and MORE!
Programs and Enrichment: $13,000
Art Docent Program, Chess/STEAM Clubs, STEAM Fair, Gift-a-Book, Green Team, Student Council
Staff Appreciation: $8,000
Monthly staff luncheons, Teacher Appreciation Week
School and Curriculum Support: $71,000 - These are the funds that go directly back into the classroom
Examples include: All School Grants, Teacher Allocations, Grade level enrichment, Scholarships, Assemblies, 5th Grade Promotion, Safety Patrol and MORE.
