Cougar Ridge Elementary Overnight 5th Grade Camp 2023
5th Grade Camp Information:
Date: Friday, May 5th - Sunday, May 7th, 2023.
Duration: 2 nights (Friday after school – Sunday mid-day)
Camp Tuition: $275.00
Location: Camp Warm Beach, Stanwood WA
The overnight 5th Grade Camp has been a long-standing tradition and is a much celebrated event for Cougar Ridge students. Issaquah School District has decided to pivot to a one-day outdoor experience (with combined elementary schools) and will no longer support the traditional overnight camp during school for 2022-23 and beyond. The Cougar Ridge PTSA is prepared to once again support a parent-sponsored overnight 5th Grade Camp. This would be independent of ISD and supported by the PTSA, as it was done last year.
Prior school-led overnight 5th Grade Camps at Camp Warm Beach have been paid for by parents. We are hoping to keep costs in the same range and will provide need-based scholarships, when appropriate, to be as inclusive as possible. Teachers and school staff are not required to attend but will be invited. For transportation to and from camp, we can arrange buses. We are actively looking for a chair for the event, 3-4 volunteers who will help organize/lead the Camp, and chaperones who attend for the duration of the Camp (1 for every 4-5 students for a total of up to ~18 chaperones). Camp will be organized and led by parents.
Many of us attended 5th (or 6th) grade Camp and even as adults remember the campfire songs and memories made. At Camp Warm Beach, students build camaraderie, friendships, and team building skills. The camp is located in a beautiful Northwest setting where students can swim, canoe, rock climb, orienteer, and have the opportunity to build their leadership skills as well. Many parents are eager to continue this tradition for our 5th Graders.

PTSA is scheduled a Q&A zoom call regarding the overnight 5th grade camp on April 25th at 7:00 pm. This call is for all 5th grade parents. Please attend if you have any questions about the camp.
