Volunteer Opportunities

Looking for VOICE Mentor Volunteers – Make a meaningful difference by becoming a VOICE Mentor!  Our Cougar Ridge teachers have identified twice as many kids at Cougar Ridge who would benefit from mentoring than we currently have the capacity to support.  In addition, ISD considers VOICE Mentors crucial for the academic and social-emotional support of our students.  That means that you would be approved to be one of the few parent volunteers who is allowed to be on-campus, in the school during the school day, even during Phase 1 of COVID restrictions.  Please consider applying here if you can!

Sunset Elementary Auction Volunteers – The Sunset Elementary PTA is holding their fundraising auction on Friday, November 5th, at the Hyatt Regency on Lake Washington.  They are seeking volunteers to help them run their event on auction night.  If you can help out, they would greatly appreciate it and it will help our PTA when we need community volunteers.  Shifts are 2.5 hours and you will be provided dinner.  To sign up to help or learn more, please visit their SignUp Genius.

Still looking for Spooky Spaghetti Carnival Volunteers! – We are still looking for 2 more volunteers to help with carnival decorations on Friday, October 29th, from 4pm-6pm.  Please email Erica Wood if you would like to volunteer.  Interested dads, please email Mark Mobilia.  Please also take a look at our Signup Genius for other volunteering opportunities.

Adult Safety Patrol Volunteers Needed – Cougar Ridge is looking for adult volunteers to help with Safety Patrol at the two intersections furthest from the school.  These two intersections are approximately at: SE 46th Street & 164th Ave SE and SE 46th Street & 168th Ave SE.  Volunteers are needed 8:50-9:15am (daily), 3:40-3:55pm (MTThF), 1:30-1:45pm (Wednesday) and will be provided patrol gear and training.  Sign up here.  Questions, please contact Julie Chang.

PTSA Volunteers: There are still many important chair positions open on the PTSA for 2021-2022! YOU are important and have the skills we need!  Please contact Julie Chang if you have any questions or are interested in getting involved.

Volunteering During the 2021-22 School Year
While we value our volunteers in so many areas of the work we do in the Issaquah School District, we also must be mindful of our continued efforts to ensure virus mitigation, so that our students stay in classrooms as much as possible this school year. In a typical year, we welcome as many as 9,000 volunteers into our schools. We cannot reasonably allow nor process that many at this time. To that end, we want to phase in a return of our volunteers by starting with those that support academic and social-emotional programming first. These plans are subject to ... read full article
