President
Presides
at all meetings, plans meeting agendas and co-signs all binding agreements.
Makes appointments to positions and committees as designated in the Standing
Rules with approval of the Executive Committee. Serves on Cougar Ridge Shared
Leadership Board.Serves as
ex-officio member of all committees except nominating committee. Disseminates
and communicates all information received pertinent to PTSA programs. Attends
and votes as delegate to Issaquah PTSA Council.
Executive Vice President
Performs
the duties of the President(s) in the absence or inability of that officer to
serve. Assists President(s) when called upon. Records all motions at Board of
Directors’ and General Membership meetings. Oversees annual review and update
of the Cougar Ridge PTSA Standing Rules.
Secretary
Performs
Keeps accurate minutes of all
meetings and posts on Community Information Board. Works with President(s) to establish meeting agendas. At meetings,
Secretary handles attendance and determines existence of quorum. Notifies President(s) of
any unfinished business and is responsible for correspondence as designated by
President(s). Keeps complete roster of the membership of all standing and
special committees. Maintains record of PTSA equipment.
Treasurer
Serves as chairperson of the
budget committee and presents the budget to the membership. Keeps accurate records at all times. Receives, issues
receipts and deposits promptly in an authorized account all monies and disburses monies from
authorized account according to the approved annual budget. Presents a written
financial statement at each regular meeting and at other times as required by the
President. Provides all financial records if requested by the President or Board of
Directors’ members. Closes books on June 30th and submits the books and records
for audit to a qualified accountant or auditing committee of no fewer than 3
members appointed by the President(s).
Vice President of Outreach
Liaison to the Executive Committee for the following committees: Connections,
Hospitality, Humanitarian Programs, Newcomers, Caring Through Sharing, Fall
Social Event, Fall Staff Luncheon, Monthly Birthdays, Skating Parties, and
Staff Appreciation Week.
Vice President of Communications
Liaison to the Executive Committee for the following committees: Community
Advisory Site Council (CASC) Representative, Legislation, Newsletter,
Special Services Liaison, Webmaster, Database Administrator,
Emergency Preparedness/Phone Tree, Opening Day Packets, and Student Directory. Responsible for
operating/training of the risograph. Works with all committees to publicize
programs and events.
Vice President of Ways and Means
Liaison to the Executive Committee for the following committees: Corporate Rebates,
Grant Writing, Membership, Yearbook, Audit, Book Fair, Fall Fundraiser/Gift Wrap, Spiritwear, Spring Fundraiser, and
Yearbook Sales.
Vice President of Programs
Liaison to the Executive Committee for the following committees: Assemblies,
Gift-A-Book, Parent Education, Student Council Advisor(s), Art Fair/Resources,
Destination Imagination, Math Olympiad, Reflections, Science Fair/Kits, Spring Open House, and
Student Banking.
Vice President of Volunteers
Liaison to the Executive Committee for the following committees:
Awards (including Golden Acorn/OEA), Classroom Support Coordinator, Language Liaison, Special Events Coordinator, Issaquah
Schools Foundation, School Beautification, and Volunteers for Issaquah Schools (in election years.)
Special Events include Field Day, School Photographs, and Turn-Off-the-TV Week.
Provides and maintains Volunteer Sign-In Notebook in office. Prepares lists of volunteers for
chairpersons based on volunteer interest forms.
Coordinates preparation and distribution of gifts to all volunteers during
Volunteer Appreciation Week.
Volunteers for Issaquah Schools
Volunteers for Issaquah
Schools (VIS) is an independent organization that provides support to Issaquah School District
bond and levy campaigns according to the laws of the Public Disclosure Commission. Because
school districts are prohibited from financing campaigns for ballot measures, VIS performs
this rold by fundraising and endorsing ballots measures designed to benefit students in the Issaquah
School District.
The PTSA liaison to VIS communicates information to the PTSA about the ballot measures and campaign,
and recruits volunteers for mailings, phone calls, etc.
